SUMMARY:Kayak Camping Weekend (Day Trip?)
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to a kayak camping weekend in Middle Bay\, Brunswick\, on Aug 10-11 on Birch Island. We will meet at Mere Point in Brunswick at 9 am\, butts in boats at 10 am\, and head to the campsites on Birch Island. The rain date is Sunday\, Aug 11\, but that will be a day trip with no camping. Since the forecast is rain on Saturday\, a Sunday day trip seems likely. \nParticipants will need a tent\, associated camping gear\, and food for the weekend. Campfires are not allowed\, so bring a stove. Participants will also need at least a 14.5-foot sea kayak\, wear a PFD and spray skirt\, and know how to perform a wet exit\, self-rescue\, and assisted rescue. The trip is limited to eight people. \nThis is a carry-in/carry-out campsite\, meaning all solid waste must be carried out. There is a building on the site for privacy\, but you must bring something to catch the solid waste. One product is Reliance Double Doodie Waste Bags\, sold through Dick’s. \n(https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/reliance-double-doodie-waste-bags-with-bio-gel-15rlnudblddwstbgxcac/15rlnudblddwstbgxcac?sku=13418857&srsltid=AfmBOoqwubNWvbVIXd5lAp8qddTRvPjvpXzIOniFBUYWoCwPV3mDmZnE3X8) \nSign up by emailing me at us1863@gmail.com with your cell phone number\, what kayak you have\, and your experience level. I will keep you posted as the weather becomes more predictable. \nAs of Aug 4\, four spots are open.
