DESCRIPTION:Hike Avery peak and West peak \nThis is not a hike for beginners!  Ideally you will have had experience hiking other 4000 foot peaks.  I will be shooting to hike at a pace of 35 minutes per mile.  I know there are people in this group who can manage that pace\, as I have hiked with you when Anne was still leading MOAC hikes.  If you cannot maintain that pace\, you will be left behind the lead group.  Please email me with your hiking experience\,  not a show-and-go trip. \nThis should be about an 10 mile hike.  Not 100% sure on the distance \nMeet at the Firewarden trailhead:

SUMMARY:SummerFest play in the water & BBQ & Potluck Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Summer is here! Plan to attend SummerFest at Range Pond State Park in Poland\, Maine for grilling\, chilling and messing around in boats. Visit with your friends and meet new members!  This event is a member benefit.  MOAC pays the $150 fee for the picnic area and all of the food for the grill\, as well as our guest expert.\nScott Shea\, kayaking and SUP guide and owner of SeaSpray Boats in the mid-coast area will be our special instructor and fun guy starting after lunch.  Bring your own boat or borrow one of Scott’s and try stand-up paddle boarding with SeaSpray’s sample boards.  MOAC has reserved the covered picnic area\, beach and awesome boat launch.  (pronounced rang pond)  With flush toilets\, running hot and cold water and large pit grills\, this festive summer outing is for everyone.  Bring your paddle board\, kayak or just your beach towel and blow up toy to join in on the relaxing fun! \nAs always the board is looking for volunteers to step up to purchase the groceries\, grill the food\, set the tables and organize the activities.  MOAC pays for the chicken\, meat and veggie burgers for the grill along with condiments.  Bring beverages\, an appetizer\, side dish\, salad or dessert to share.  Contact board@moac.org or text Eileen at 207-749-0211 to sign up to volunteer.  Let’s make it a great time!\nRange Pond State Park\nLat 44.038031 / Lon -70.342181\n26 State Park Rd.\, off the Empire Rd. in Poland\, Maine\nFee for entrance to the Park\nAdults:  $6.00 Maine Resident;  $8.00 Non-Maine Resident;  $2.00 Non-Maine Resident age 65+\nFREE Maine Resident age 65+;  Children 5 – 11 years old $1.00; Children under age 5 FREE.

DESCRIPTION:At Range Pond State Park:  Scott Shea\, owner and guide of Seaspray Kayak & SUP\, will be with us for lunch at SummerFest and then we’ll hit the water for those who are interested in learning to paddle or improving your paddling and safety skills.  Learn from a pro.  Try one of Scott’s boats or stand-up paddleboards.  Scott’s enthusiasm is contagious and his knowledge and experience beginning as a teenager on the mid-coast of Maine.  Scott is now guiding overnight trips with paddleboards.  Try to get your brain around how to pack a SUP for island hopping.  How does he do it?
