SUMMARY:Volunteer at Cumberland Wood Bank
DESCRIPTION:Want to spend some time giving back? Want to get some fresh air and exercise for a good cause? \nThe Cumberland Wood Bank is a firewood charity in a network of organizations across the state. www.woodbanks.org. \nThis winter will be a tough one for many people to heat their homes. The Wood Banks are here to help. People can request help and firewood will be delivered to them at no cost. \nHow can you help? Each Saturday morning (8ish to noonish\, weather permitting) the Cumberland Wood Bank gets together to process firewood. This Saturday\, October 31\, looks awesome. \nTasks include: \n\nCutting (certified Sawyers only)\nSplitting (with a splitter unless you want to show off)\nMoving (with wheelbarrows)\nStacking (self explanatory)\n\nThis takes place in North Yarmouth at 46 Walnut Hill Parkway. It is off Route 115 between the intersection with Route 231 (church on the corner)\, and Parsonage Road. \nGo to the very end of Walnut Hill Parkway and you will be at Pierce Excavating. Continue on to the left to the back of the property for the wood lot. \nWork is done on Saturday’s until it gets too cold and then resumes in the spring until it gets too hot. \nIf you like the idea but don’t live in this area\, please check out the list of wood banks and see if there is one closer to you to contact. \nNote: There are no “services”. Bring your gloves\, your own water or beverage of choice\, and there is NO rest room facility. There might be donuts.
