Mt Cube Trailhead
Categories No Categories
Let’s hope this cold spell breaks soon and enjoy a pleasant hike to Mt Cube on the 52 With A View list. However, if it seems like Sunday is a better day, then that will be an alternate date.
We are now well into winter hiking mode, so please be prepared with all your winter traction – Microspikes, Crampons and Snowshoes. We will decide at the trail head what we actually need.
Also, bring your butt-sled if you have one!
ADVANCED-MODERATE HIKE: This is a “Moderate-and-a-half” hike. Although I am not enforcing the “wait list” rules, you must have completed an Over 50 Moderate hike or equivalent to attend. If you are a newcomer to the group, please contact me (Dave W) through Meetup and tell me about any recent hikes that you have done with equivalent difficulty.
NOTE: THIS HIKE IS CONTINGENT ON GOOD WEATHER & SUBJECT TO CANCELLATION IN THE EVENT OF INCLEMENT WEATHER.
About this Meetup:
This group is for hikers 50-70+(most of us are 55-65) who haven’t given up on their love of hiking and being in nature despite their age or level of physical conditioning. We hike at a pace 50% slower than the AMC Trailguide book time. Hike ratings: easy,easy/moderate, moderate, advanced moderate,moderate/strenuous, strenuous, very strenuous. On the home page,if you click on the PAGES button there is a hike rating system which explains the wait list.
We start as a group,we hike as a group and we end as a group. If you think you may not be able to keep up with the group, do not carpool.
There are three other hiking Meetup groups if you want a faster pace or more challenging hikes (The New England Hiking Meetup, 4 Seasons Hiking Group, New England Over 40 Hiking Group). The hiking Meetup group, (Fellowship Of The Tortoise) does easier, slower paced hikes than this group. Our goal is to stay fit while enjoying the camaraderie of hikers who have similar skills and goals. If you click on the PAGES button on the home page, there is a Summer/Winter Hiking Gear List. This is a dog free hiking group. Everybody must join the group and have a picture up to be on a hike.
