10:00 am - 3:00 pm
A flotilla of dog-free midweek canoeists and kayakers will explore the islands of Cobbosseecontee Lake, a few miles west of Augusta.
Due to website conversion issues, there is much confusion over this trip. Many subscribers to ‘canoe-kayak’ have received as many as five cancellation notices. FAKE NEWS. The weather forecast is excellent and THIS TRIP IS DEFINITELY ON.
We’ll paddles among a dozen or so islands in the lake, including a very rare freshwater lighthouse. We’ll have lunch on one great little island with a hiking trail.
Trip is suitable for any type of canoe or kayak, excepting inflatables. Bring paddles, PFDs, drinking water, lunch, sunscreen, bug spray and any other accessories for a perfect late May day.
Trip is show-and-go. No advance reservations needed. No quota. No vetting. No mothering. No whining. No dogs.
Meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Circle K-Irving convenience store-gas station in Manchester. It’s a couple of miles west of the Route 202/100 exit from I-95 (the principal Augusta exit, but head west, away from Augusta). We’ll caravan to the put-in from there.
Please note this this trip starts at the Irving-Circle K. At that point leader (Scott) will decide on which of three different versions of this trip will be run, depending on weather and turnout. Please do not call or email asking for the put-in.
Don’t be left high and dry. Leader has extra boats for wannabe boat-less people. (Must make arrangements in advance for this.) Contact Scott Andrews, 773-9609 (home/office/machine) or 776-4273 (cellphone, sometimes on) or email: email@example.com.
This is the first in a series of midweek paddle trips. Leader has spoken with several retired MOACers, and there seems to be considerable interest in the idea. More to follow if turnout is good.
