SUMMARY:Take Pride in Acadia Day\, 2026 - Updated
DESCRIPTION:Updated to include Google Forms link to sign up. \nTake Pride in Acadia Day \n \n  \nFor 35 years\, volunteers have gathered on the first Saturday of November to help ready the famous carriage roads for winter. Sponsored by Friends of Acadia\, teams are assigned troublesome sections of carriage roads where erosion can cause damage over the winter. The task? Rake the leaves and debris off the shoulders and into the woods. MOAC has had members at this event for many years. We have a team that will work together. \nMost who sign up make it a weekend\, but that is not required. The actual commitment to the park is from roughly 8:30 am to noon on Saturday. If you choose to make it a weekend\, the rest of the time is yours. \nPlease sign up through us. Please do not sign up through Friends of Acadia. We will supply Friends with a list of names as the registration window closes to ensure we stay together as a group. \nTo sign up: https://forms.gle/XyAKMhVdXXgSJuoA6 \nThere is no cost for the event itself. If you choose to stay over\, you will need to find your own lodging. I will be staying at the Bar Harbor Grand Hotel\, right in downtown and that has been the hotel of choice for the most part for a few years now. But\, you can do as you wish in this regard. The Grand offers a free breakfast. Local restaurants for the rest. \nExcept for the provided lunch after the work Saturday. After our work commitment is done\, we can head over to the Hulls Cove Visitors Center for a “CCC” lunch. Chili\, cornbread\, and cider.  Aside from the ingredients\, it’s named to honor the Civilian Conservation Corp\, who did a lot of work in Acadia.

SUMMARY:AMC Highland Center - Seniors Dark Sky and Fall Foliage Getaway
DESCRIPTION:As AMC leaders and MOAC members and other groups\, we are inviting you to join us on this getaway. All AMC outings are open to the public. You must use this link to register. \nhttps://activities.outdoors.org/s/oc-activity/a5UVX000001Jjor2AC/act00024048 \n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt’s that time of year to get out and enjoy the changing colors in the White Mountains. We also timed this getaway to enjoy some starry nights. Come join us for 3 nights of camaraderie\, good food\, a beautiful spot and getting out with fellow seniors. However\, anyone is welcome to join us. During the day\, you can enjoy a ride on the Mt. Washington Cog Railway\, a walk to a waterfall or 2 or 3\, mountain trails for the more adventurous or take a gondola ride at Bretton Woods. Outings may not be led by the leaders. We are seniors and limited to easier hikes which you will be welcome to join us on. \nWe are holding the Shapleigh Bunkhouse which has 2 bunkrooms with 4 or 12 bunks\, bathrooms and showers\, a common sitting area with a couple futons\, table and chairs\, and fridge and microwave. $76 per person per day plus 8.5% tax. Rates include dinner and breakfast each day. Lunch is on your own but available at the lodge. We are also holding rooms in the main lodge as follows: with private bath\, 1 queen\, 1 queen and 1 twin\, 1 queen and 2 bunks. With shared bath\, rooms with 4 bunks. There are also rooms with 2 bunks or 6 bunks which we could hold if desired.
