SUMMARY:15 Mile Androscoggin River Kayak Trip
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to a 15-mile MOAC kayak trip down the Androscoggin River on Saturday\, July 13 (the rain date is Sunday\, July 14). \nThanks to someone more familiar with the river\, the trip is now 15 miles with no portages. We will put in at Twin Bridge (Googins Island) in West Leeds and take out at Cherry Pond on River Road in Greene. The total distance is about 15 miles\, \nThis section has no rapids\, so it should be a moderate trip. Depending on group speed and current\, I estimate the time to be 5 to 6 hours on the water. We will meet at Cherry Pond on River Road in Greene at 8 am\, put our kayaks on 3-4 cars\, and carpool 20 minutes to Twin Bridge (Googins Island) in West Leeds. We will stop for lunch. We will stop for a group break if anyone needs a break. This section of the river is listed as scenic\, with ample opportunity to view wildlife. At the end of the trip\, we will carpool for 20 minutes to get the cars left in West Leeds. Expect a seven-hour day. Stopping at a local watering hole is an option. \nParticipants will need lunch\, water\, at least a 14.5-foot sea kayak\, have and wear a PFD\, know how to do a wet exit\, a self-rescue\, and an assisted rescue. A spray skirt and kayak wheels are recommended but not necessary. The trip is limited to 6-8 people. \nImages are Twin Bridge (Goggins Island) in West Leeds and Cherry Pond on River Road in Greene. \nAs of June 26\, eight people are registered: two men and six women. Feel free to sign up before registration closes on Monday\, July 8\, and I will put you on a waitlist.

SUMMARY:Summer Fest - SUP and Kayak Self Rescue
DESCRIPTION:By special arrangement\, Scott Shea from Sea Spray Paddle Board and Kayaks will do a 2 hour presentation on stand up paddle board and kayak self rescue. Scott will be bringing paddle boards to try and will teach us how to paddle on a board. If you are accomplished at SUP\, come and join the fun\, maybe do a few yoga moves. If you kayak and you have never practiced a wet exit\, or re-entry\, you need to attend!! Be at the little beach at 10 AM\, not in the water. \nScott plus two of his guides will stay for the BBQ and chat up all things boats\, safety\, and fun trips. After all\, Scott started leading paddling trips at age 16! Don’t miss this great opportunity! \nPRESENTATION STARTS at 10 AM. \nRange Pond State Park
