SUMMARY:Monthly Meeting: The Story – Maine Huts & Trails
DESCRIPTION:Our Next Monthly Meeting:  Wed Sept. 3rd \nPresentation:  The Story – Maine Huts & Trails\nPresented By:  Wolfe Tone – Maine Huts & Trails Executive Director \nThe Story:  Maine Huts & Trails\nThe Maine Huts & Trails (MH&T) experience is more than a backcountry adventure—it’s a journey through nature that invites connection\, discovery\, and belonging. Along over 80 miles of free\, year-round trails\, guests hike\, ski\, or bike from hut to hut\, immersed in the beauty of Maine’s wilderness. Inside the huts\, the warmth of a woodstove\, shared meals\, and laughter among strangers-turned-friends create moments of genuine camaraderie. Not long ago\, MH&T was confronted by operational challenges made even steeper by the pandemic. From uncertainty emerged something powerful: a fully committed board\, hardworking staff\, and our dedicated community rallied together to reimagine MH&T’s future. \n6:30PM Social;   7:00PM  Program Start\nA2U2 Church\, 524 Allen Ave.\, Portland

SUMMARY:Paddle and play Little Sebago in Gray
DESCRIPTION:Paddle at 1:00 pm\, so please arrive in time to get your boat unloaded and set up to be on the water at 1:00.  We’ll paddle for about an hour and a half.  Leisurely paddle and I have extra boats and safety gear.  It might be a  bit chilly to swim\, so we’ll probably skip the island and do a different route. \nAfter the paddle\, folks are welcome to stay and just take in the view and space\, play some games and enjoy the company and eat\, drink and be merry!  For those who like chilly water for swimming\, there are usually people swimming through September on the lake. The swim float is still out.  You’re also welcome to bring food and drinks for dinner.  I can light up the grill around 4:30.  BYO food and beverages. \nIf you don’t want to paddle\, but come out for the fun and games (or resting on the hammock)\, come out around 2:30 to 3:00.   If the fire warnings have ended\, we can get a camp fire going. \nPlease RSVP  for which part(s) you’ll be joining me and the address if you need it.  The location is on the upper west side of Little Sebago Lake    207.807.2729   lmitchell75@aol.com.

SUMMARY:Night sky adventure stay for seniors at AMC Medawisla Lodge and Cabins
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a 3 nights getaway in the middle of Maine at AMC’s Medawisla Lodge and Cabins in the Maine Woods Initiative area geared to seniors but open to all. We have timed our stay to take advantage of dark skies to enjoy a sky full of stars without having to stay up late. Whether you enjoy easier trails in the woods\, climbing mountains\, off road biking or paddling\, you can find something to do here. However\, you can also just enjoy sitting on the porch at the lodge or down at the lake. Bring your own kayak or canoe or use one available there. \nWe are holding the Meadow Bunkhouse with 16 bunk beds\, a 2 bedroom cabin with 1 queen and 2 twins\, and a 2 bedroom cabin with private facilities with 1 queen\, 1 double and 1 twin (held for the group until 8/1/2025 – after that time it will be open for general reservations). Before you register\, please contact Michelle Moody to get price information in case there are any price changes. Price for the bunkhouse as of 6/21/2025 was $238.71 per person including tax based on extended stay for 3 nights with an AMC membership.  Prices are not guaranteed until booked. Non-member rates are higher. Cabin prices will vary based on how many share a cabin. All meals are included from dinner our first night to a packed lunch on the last day. We will also have an appetizer get together each evening if enough folks are booked for a group. Be sure to check out Medawisla to see all that is has to offer with this link. https://www.outdoors.org/destinations/maine/medawisla-lodge/ \nTo register for the event use this link – https://activities.outdoors.org/s/oc-activity/a5UUN000000uYmz2AE/act00012293 \nIf you have any questions prior to registering\, please contact Michelle at meamc@micstan.us. SUMMARY:Hike Libby Hill in Gray and joyful hour
DESCRIPTION:It will be cooler (supposedly) on Saturday so please join me for a hike on the Libby Hill Forest trails in Gray.  They’re near the schools across from Hannaford\, off Route 26.   I plan on a hike of about an hour and a half.  There are a variety of trails with various difficulty and we’ll see which ones the group wants to do.  Mostly conversational pace\, but we’ll keep moving.  We can split the group if some want or need a slower pace or shorter\, easier trail.  It’s been a while since I’ve been there\, but the trails were generally well marked. \nYou can see the trails here:  https://libbyhill.org/trail-maps/ \nFor those willing and able we’ll head to camp (about 10 minutes away) to eat\, drink and be merry.  The happy hour committee doesn’t like others to use the term happy hour on so as not to confuse things with the “official” club happy hour.  🙂  I will probably not do the grill\, but will bring a sandwich or something.  BYO your own food and drinks.  Folks are welcome to just come to camp later if they don’t want to do the hike.  I expect to be there by 4:30-ish. \nPlan to arrive so we can be on the trail at 2:30. \nShow and go.  No dogs please.  And no ferrets.  You can text 207.807.2729 with questions

SUMMARY:Camp day in Gray
DESCRIPTION:Can you believe another 80+ degree day?  Use ’em or lose ’em!  Along with the great weather\, the trees are turning for a beautiful view.  Come at 1:00 for a BBQ lunch and then relax\, play games and/or paddle.  I have a few boats and SUPs with gear\, or bring your own.  It MIGHT even be warm enough to swim for the more hearty (or is that hardy?) among us. \nIf you join for lunch\, bring your own beverages and a personal protein/sandwich and a dish to share.  If you don’t want to join the BBQ\, just come a bit later.  I’ll be there at 1:00 until about 6 ish. \nShow and go\, but it’s nice to know who’s coming (and to give notice in case the weather changes).  Camp is on the upper west side of Little Sebago Lake in Gray.  If you need the address\, or have questions\, let me know.  text 207.807.2729 or email   lmitchell75@aol.com
