DESCRIPTION:Interested in a 5-7 day walking trip through southern France? The Stevenson Trail (or G70) is a moderate difficulty path that passes through picturesque villages\, forests\, and low mountains (the Cévennes region of the Massif Central). It is named after Robert Louis Stevenson (Treasure Island) who traveled it with a pack donkey and wrote a book about his trip. Today\, you can follow the well-marked route\, aided by maps and guidebooks. And a series of outfitters and B&Bs associated with the trail make it possible to rent a donkey and stop each night at lodgings. Prices are reasonable\, the food is good\, and the scenery is beautiful (fluffy hiking companion is a bonus!). No French is required. If this sounds appealing (or you want to know who’s crazy enough to consider it)\, contact Maria Snyder to start planning for a possible group trip.
