A flotilla of dog-free canoeists and kayakers will paddle a small lake in the New Gloucester-Poland area and eat lunch at a scenic spot.
One of a series of Paddle-n-Picnic trips. Suitable for either canoes or kayaks of any sort. Easy paddling at an easygoing, relaxed pace. Good as a season warm-up. Total mileage will be between three and six.
Excellent introduction to MOAC for new and/or prospective members, but all members are welcome. This has been popular in prior years.
Bring canoe or kayak plus paddles, PFDs, drinking water, sunscreen, bug spray and lunch. Dress suitably for early May in central Maine. Spray skirts and wetsuits not needed (but bring if you wish).
Meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Hannaford’s on Route 26 in Gray. Location is about a mile-plus north of Gray Center and the Gray exit of the Maine Turnpike. We’ll caravan from Hannaford’s to the put-in.
Don’t be left high and dry! Leader has a canoe and kayak and can accommodate two boat-less paddlers, but must make arrangements in advance. Call 773-9609 or 776-4273. Email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
After take-out, the trip will finish at a local ice cream stand.
Trip is show-n-go. No reservations needed. No quota. No vetting. No mothering. No dogs.
A great early canoe-kayak trip for the 2018 paddling season!
