• What we’ll do
This hike is for those of you who are getting back into hiking or starting out. The hike is on conservation lands in Exeter, NH, not far from the New Hampshire Seacoast.
The terrain is composed of rolling hills with very little elevation gain.
The landscape contains boulders and rocky ledges as well as several vernal pools and wetlands. A variety of wildlife may be seen in the mixed woodland. You should be prepared for winter conditions. Bring microspikes or similar boot traction as well as several layers of clothing.
This date and/or location could change due to weather conditions. Guests and/or pets are not allowed on this hike. Please do not show up unexpected or unprepared for this hike.
Distance: 4 to 6 miles, depending upon trails taken
Estimated time: 3 to 4 hours
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Driving directions from Rte 95:
Take exit 2 for Rte 101 west
Take exit 10 on Rte 101 for NH-85 Newfields
Turn right onto NH-85 N/Newfields Rd about 0.1 mi
Look for the Oaklands Town Forest sign and the parking lot
Driving directions from the West:
Take NH-101 E and get off at exit 10
Turn left onto NH-85 N/Newfields Rd about 0.2 mi
Look for the Oaklands Town Forest sign and the parking lot
