LL Bean hosts a lecture series on Friday evenings from January through April. These are events run by LL Bean. They are here on the MOAC calendar to make membership aware of them. Questions should be addressed to LL Bean. These events are held in the camping department atrium. MOACers often gather for a nightcap after.
Come learn from Joe Klementovich, president of the White Mountain Avalanche Education Foundation. The presentation will cover topics including: weather and snow observations in the backcountry, case studies of avalanche incidents and an overview of the changes to the Mount Washington Avalanche Center’s forecasting model for the 2019 ski season. This talk is brought to you by the White Mountain Avalanche Education Foundation. In 2010 Joe started working for the Mount Washington Avalanche Center as a snow ranger/forecaster. Spending early morning hours looking at weather forecasts, collecting field observations and working with a team to produce avalanche forecasts. During the off-season Joe works as a freelance photographer, filming and photographing for newspapers, magazines and commercial clients, like The New York Times, Patagonia, Sterling Rope and The Nature Conservancy.
