LL Bean hosts a lecture series on Friday evenings from January through April. These are events run by LL Bean. They are here on the MOAC calendar to make membership aware of them. Questions should be addressed to LL Bean. These events are held in the camping department atrium. MOACers often gather for a nightcap after.
Guest Speaker: The Voices of Acadia’s Waters and Native Fish with Matthew Dickerson
Matthew Dickerson was a 2018 June Artist-in-Residence at Acadia National Park, a creative nonfiction nature, environmental and outdoors writer and digital storyteller. Focusing on the conservation and restoration of native diadromous fish – particularly “salter” brook trout and alewives – and the waters where they live and move, his writings highlighted the important interactions between forest, stream, lake, and ocean. Drawing from his recent book The Voices of Rivers: Reflections on Places Wild and Almost Wild, Dickerson will share stories and images of his explorations on foot, bicycle and especially his ultralight Wenonah Kevlar canoe that managed to lead him to trout on most of the paddleable waters of Mount Desert Island.
