In September, Pat Johnson and Kevin Huber embarked on a nearly three week trip to Europe to complete the Tour du Mont Blanc. A hike of over 110 miles in 10 days around the Mont Blanc massif with over 6 miles (nearly 33,000 feet) of collective ascent/descent.
Mont Blanc, at 15,771 feet, is more than just the highest mountain in Western Europe, it’s more than a big mountain massif, it’s a mountain range, compact and complete in itself. This beautiful
25 km-long wall of rock, snow and ice has some 400 summits and more than 40 glaciers that scour the heartland and add lustre to every scene. Carrying the frontiers of three countries, France, Italy, and Switzerland, it is moated by seven valleys that define the limits of the range and through which winds the Tour of Mont Blanc(TMB), a trekkers route that revels in some of the most exquisite mountain scenery of all.
At the meeting, Pat and Kevin will share information, pictures, and stories about their adventure, including some misadventures and interesting encounters with people they met along the way. Come join us in January to hear more about their trip
Kevin is relatively new to MOAC having joined one year ago. He has lived in Maine nearly his entire life and enjoys being outdoors including hiking, skiing, fishing, and traveling.
Pat has been an active MOAC member since 2002, leading trips, serving on the board and is a past president. She is an avid hiker, xc skier, bicyclist, sea kayaker and traveler.
