SUMMARY:Hike Baxter Peak (Mt Katahdin)
DESCRIPTION:The forecast is ideal; a gorgeous Sunday fun day! I have a Katahdin Trailhead Pass for my vehicle for day use at the Roaring Brook Campground. Plan on ascending Baxter Peak via the Cathedral Trail; descending on Saddle Trail. ~10 miles RT with ~3800′ gain. This is a challenging hike not for beginners (plan on at least 10 hours). The gatehouse at Baxter State Park opens at 6:00am. Once in the park\, it’s about a 10 mile drive (30 min) to the trailhead. I’d like to leave from Bangor no later than 4:00am for anyone wanting to carpool. If you are camping/lodging in the vicinity of Baxter State Park Saturday night (e.g.\, Millinocket)\, feel free to reach out if you’d like to catch a ride.
