Bald Peak Trailhead Pleasant Mountain Bridgton Maine
Mountain Road,

United States

Experience Level

Please join us for National Trails Day and a day of volunteer trail maintenance on MOAC‘s newly adopted Bald Peak and Sue’s Way Trails on Pleasant Mountain.  We all love hiking the wonderful trails, not only on Pleasant Mountain, but everywhere throughout New England and this country.  Please consider volunteering for a day and giving back a little to these quiet avenues of fun, exercise, and relaxation.  I assure you that after a day of volunteer trail work, the next time you go for a hike or mountain bike ride, you’ll see the trails in a new light.  AND you can say, “Yes, I Volunteer!”.   Some of the fun will include clearing out all the waterbars and rebuilding a few other waterbars in need of repair.  Raking leaves and sticks from the trail, clipping and clearing overgrown brush, and maintaining trailside drainage are a few of the other jobs we tackle.   All the MOAC trail tools will be provided.  You should bring work clothes, sturdy footwear, work gloves, lunch, plenty of water, bug dope, tick protection, etc., and a day pack.  We’ll meet at the trailhead on Mountain Road at 9am.  If coming from Portland meet at 8am at the Marginal Way Park And Ride right across the road from World Gym, and carpool from there. (Who would like to be the point person for folks coming from Portland?  Please let me know).   End time will be around 4pm.  From there we will choose a location to enjoy a refreshment, kickback, socialized and pat ourselves on the back for a job well done.   This is open to all members, as well as anyone curious about MOAC, or interested in volunteer trail work.

Keep your fingers crossed for good weather.  But if Mother Nature rains too hard on us, the rain date will be the very next day, Sunday June 2.   UPDATE:  The weather looks great for Saturday, so need to worry about a rain date.  🙂   Please email or call me if you want to sign up, or if you just have questions.   Having a rough idea of the number of volunteers helps me plan the work for the day.   A little trail maintenance today, and the next time you’re out for a hike, you can say, “Yes, I Volunteer !”
