Please join MOAC & the Loon Echo Land Trust (LELT) as we recognize National Trails Day by volunteering for a day of trail maintenance. The LELT manages several land trusts in southern Maine and last year over a dozen MOAC members helped out on the trails of the new Pismire Mountain / Raymond Community Forest trails in Raymond. This year’s location will be the Bald Peak Trail on Pleasant Mountain. I just hiked the trail yesterday (Tuesday) and there are more than enough projects to keep us busy for the day and beyond. Pleasant Mountain is one of the more popular MOAC hiking destinations, and this is the perfect opportunity to give back to the mountain many of us have hiked so many times over the years. This is the umpteenth-annual MOAC / National Trails Day volunteer event. So please consider joining the tradition, and give a day of your time to give back to the trails we all love to hike, bike, snowshoe, climb, no matter where they are. All the MOAC trail tools will be provided. Please bring your lunch, plenty of water, bug dope, work clothes and work gloves, your elbow grease, and your enthusiasm !
There is a new parking lot for the Bald Peak Trail. Turn off Rt. 302 onto Mountain Road and go past Shawnee Peak ski area, and past the entrance to the East Area. In a couple hundred yards the parking lot will be on your right.
