SUMMARY:Climb Mt. Moriah via Stony Brook Trail
DESCRIPTION:Hike the Stony Brook Trail up Mt. Moriah\, one of the NH 4\,000 footers. It’s a challenging hike of 10 miles round trip\, 3\,100′ elevation gain\, and should take most of the day. There are beautiful views from the bare ledges near the top\, and several stream crossings on the way up. I don’t expect high water so those should be easy. The weather looks great for hiking – temps around 60 at the summit and warmer below. Bring at least 2L water\, lunch and snacks\, bug spray and a wind breaker for the top just in case. We will probably stop afterwards for food and drink. \nFully vaccinated hikers only\, max group size is 8. Text (207-380-6008) or email to RSVP for meeting places and times (we’re not leaving at 2 am)\, and to carpool.

SUMMARY:Climb Mt. Washington via Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail and Jewell Trail
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this long\, rugged\, difficult hike of 9.6 miles\, 3\,850′ elevation gain. This will be an all day hike\, with the potential for bad weather on top of Mt. Washington\, even though it’s not in the forecast. Winds are expected to be 25+ mph at elevation\, with a 25% chance of rain and partly cloudy conditions. Temps will range from the 40’s to 60 on the top\, with temps in the 60’s on the way up and down. Mt. Washington’s weather can change on a dime – be prepared with a rain shell\, warm jacket\, warm hat and gloves. I’ve been hailed on and had gale winds and rain on a day that was forecast to be a “heat index day” in the 90’s. Because I’ve had hikers who didn’t come prepared and needed to descend early on a big mountain hike\, I will be checking your gear before we get in the car. If you don’t have the clothing recommended\, I will ask you not to come with us – it’s just not fair to the rest of the group. Many of the fatalities on Mt. Washington have happened in July and August\, when people assumed the weather would be nice\, and they weren’t prepared. There are a lot of water crossings on the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail – hiking poles are helpful but not required. The scenery is stunning all the way up with the river and waterfalls\, then of course those great Presidential views once you get above treeline. \nPlease also bring at least 2 liters of water\, lunch and lots of snacks. If you want to tag Mt. Monroe for your 4\,000 footer list\, that’s only 1/4 mile off our route so you can easily add that one. Anyone who doesn’t need it can hang out at the Lake of the Clouds Hut while we wait. Max group size is 8; fully vaccinated hikers only. Please RSVP by text (207-380-6008) or email for meeting places and times\, and to carpool (we’re not leaving at 2 AM).

SUMMARY:Hike Mt. Meader
DESCRIPTION:Climb Mt. Meader in Evans Notch\, a fairly challenging hike of 6 miles round trip\, 2\,250′ elevation gain. There are some nice views from ledges near the top. This trail gets sun all day\, so be prepared with at least 2 liters water\, hat\, sunblock and bug spray too. Max group size is 8 – RSVP by text (207-380-6008) or email for meeting places and times (we’re not meeting at 2 AM) and to carpool. Fully vaccinated hikers only.

SUMMARY:Hike Glen Boulder Trail
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the expansive Presidential views and the unique geological feature of Glen Boulder on this 5.2 mile rugged round trip hike. We’ll hike up to Slide Peak\, which gives an elevation gain of 2\,850′. There’s the possibility of splitting into different carpool groups if anyone wants a longer hike\, to Boott Spur or Mt. Washington\, although the forecast is for 50+ mph winds at the elevation of Boott Spur or higher. Winds will be more moderate at Slide Peak (25+ mph)\, although I’ve experienced stronger winds than forecast on this hike before. Parts of the Glen Boulder trail involve steep rock scrambling up big boulders and there is some feeling of exposure so it’s not for someone with a fear of heights. \nThe high temp will be 65 at elevation\, warmer on the way up and down. Bring at least 2L of water\, snacks and lunch\, plus a windbreaker. Fully vaccinated\, experienced hikers only\, max group size is 8. RSVP by text or email (207-380-6008) for meeting times and places (we’re not leaving at 2 AM) and to arrange carpooling. \n

SUMMARY:Climb Mt. Hight and Carter Dome
DESCRIPTION:Climb Mt. Hight and Carter Dome via the Nineteen Mile Brook and Carter Dome Trails – about 10 miles round trip\, 3\,500′ elevation gain. (Rescheduled from 5/15.) Although both peaks are over 4\,000′\, only one “counts” for the NH 48. There are spectacular views from Mt. Hight – two of the photos on this website were taken there. Be prepared for mud\, snow and ice – micro spikes are required. Also be prepared for black flies. Bring lunch\, snacks and 2 L water\, and there’s a chance of showers in the late afternoon so bring a rain shell. I hope to be off the mountain before any rain. RSVP by text (207-380-6008) or email for meeting places and times\, and to carpool (we’re not meeting at 2 AM). If we haven’t hiked together before\, please let me know your experience on 4\,000 footers in the winter. Fully vaccinated hikers only; max group size is 8.

SUMMARY:Climb North Baldface via Bicknell Ridge Trail
DESCRIPTION:Climb the Bicknell Ridge Trail to North Baldface peak – a challenging hike of about 10 miles round trip\, 3\,300′ elevation gain. There is also the option of turning around at the Baldface ridgeline to save 2.2 miles round trip and 750′ of elevation gain. Microspikes or stabil-icers are required. Also bring lunch\, 2L of water and extra layers for the top. Right now the forecast is for light winds but the weather is notoriously changeable on the ridge and above. RSVP by text (207-380-6008) or email for meeting places and times (we’re not starting at 2 AM). Max group size is 8; fully vaccinated hikers only. \n

SUMMARY:Climb Webster and Jackson
DESCRIPTION:Climb two of the NH White Mountains (one is a 4\,000 footer) in late winter conditions – 6.5 miles round trip\, 2\,550′ elevation gain. Expect challenging conditions ranging from running water and mud to ice to soft snow with possible post holes. Bring micro-spikes and snowshoes\, since the Whites just got new snow. This is a steep\, rugged trail to the top\, then a more moderate ridge trail between the two peaks\, and steep on the way down too. Bring lunch\, 2L water and extra layers for the top. RSVP by text (207-380-6008) or email for the meeting places and times (we’re not starting at 2 AM). Max group size is 8\, fully vaccinated hikers only.
