SUMMARY:MAPLE SUGARING
DESCRIPTION:For anyone that might be interested in learning a bit about maple sugaring\, I will be tapping a few maples on Sunday February 4th at 11 AM. I will also be carrying out a brief winter inspection routine for my bee hives after tapping for those that might be interested in that as well. No need to message ahead of time but if anyone has any questions\, feel free to text at 802-770-9106. The address is 133 Raymond Road\, Brunswick.  Also\, I am looking at planning another hike at the Morse Mountain Preserve in Phippsburg in the next week or so.  Anyone that may be interested in a Morse Mountain Preserve hike out to Seawall Beach and back  (approxiamately three hours including walking the beach)\, please text me at the same number to help me determine if there is sufficient interest to plan the hike.   Bee well!

SUMMARY:HIKE MORSE MOUNTAIN PRESERVE (MODIFIED) - PHIPPSBURG
DESCRIPTION:Being the first day of Spring with the temp predicted to be pushing fifty degrees\, we will be hiking a modified version of the previous Morse Mountain outing. On the way out\, we will take the relatively short spur to the overlook in order to take in the beautiful panorama that this spot affords prior to continuing on to the beach to relax and have our lunch prior to heading back. As the spur appears have a steep section\, we will pace ourselves accordingly on that stretch. Time and interest permitting\, we will perhaps walk a short section of the West end of the beach this time around (as we walked the East end previously). Take Maine Route 209 through Phippsburg to the point at which the road continues straight on to Maine Route 216. Proceed on Maine Route 216 for 0.8 +/- miles and turn left on to Morse Mountain Road.  Proceed about 500 feet to the parking lot on the left. We will step off at 11 AM.  Suggest having cleats with you just in case. If there are any questions prior to the day of the hike\, mcb-12nam@outlook.com or 207-844-8142 (this is a land line) and 802-770-9106 the day of the hike. As noted previously\, cell service can be spotty in this area. \n  \n

SUMMARY:HIKE/WALK MITCHELL FIELD HARPSWELL
DESCRIPTION:We will be hiking/walking the woods road\, access road\, paved walking trails and the beach.  Motor down Maine route 123 in Harpswell. The entrance to Mitchell Field is immediately prior to the Harpswell Neck Fire Station on the same side of the road as the fire station. Proceed down the access road to the parking area at the very end of the access road. We will step off at 11 AM. At a mutually agreeable time\, we will take a lunch break utilizing the picnic tables by the bay.  As low tide that day is around 11 AM\, we will traverse the beach area prior to lunch. Suggest bringing cleats\, poles and a backpack (however\, it appears unlikely cleats will be needed the majority of the time).  For questions prior to the day of the event\, mcb-12nam@outlook.com or 207-844-8142 (this is a land line). The day of the event 802-770-9106. \n  \n

SUMMARY:HIKE MORSE MOUNTAIN & SEAWALL BEACH
DESCRIPTION:Please consider joining us for a steady but peaceful 6.4 KM (3.8 mile) out & back hike through the Bates – Morse Mountain Conservation Area off Small Point Road (ME – 216) in Phippsburg. Prior to the return leg of the hike\, we will be able to take in the beauty of the incredibly expansive and unspoiled Seawall Beach as it looks out on open ocean and Popham Beach State Park to the East. For those that wish\, pack in a lunch to enjoy prior to hiking back to the parking lot. The terrain out and back is an established woods road\, parts of which appear to have been paved at one time. There are some sections that are moderately steep. Take Maine – 209 through Phippsburg to the point where you go straight onto Maine – 216 (Small Point Road) (Maine – 209 goes off sharply to the left at this point) for approximately 0.8 miles and look for Morse Mountain Road on the left. Proceed up that road for approximately 500 feet or so to the trail parking lot. Barring anything unusual\, the objective will be to hit trail at 10 AM sharp and be back to the parking lot by 1 PM. If there are any questions that morning\, 802-770-9106. Prior to that\, 207-844-8142. Caution\, cell service can be spotty in that area.
