SUMMARY:Pawtuckaway SP hike
DESCRIPTION:Loop exploration of North and South Mt. 6.4 miles and about 1300 feet elevation gain. This a moderate hike with a slow to moderate pace depending on attendees. Weather looks very good right now\, but per usual\, prepare for change in weather\, pack adequate food and water. \nAttached  photo will show the trail. Parking is near the trailhead on reservation Road. All Trails has good directions. Consider carpooling. I can take three people.  Initial meeting places can be Cabela’s at 830am and/or Wells park/drive both on ME turnpike. Goal is to be at trailhead by 10am with  a 10 minute leeway. \nPawtuckaway SP has diverse terrain\, including a lake\, fire tower\, marsh\, and a glacial boulder field. This specific loop follows a ring dike\, a circular formation due to past volcanic activity. The views are quite nice in many sections. \nBe aware that this park requires a parking day pass for hiking which can be obtained on website: Reserve America and the fee is $5 for each person. SUMMARY:Blueberry Mt. (Evans Notch area]
DESCRIPTION:Moderate loop via Shell Pond\, White Cairn\, Blueberry Ridge\, Overlook and Stone House Trails\, about 4.5 miles and 1200 ft elevation gain. There are nice ledge views and a side trip to beautiful Rattlesnake Pool. There is also an option to add Shell Pond trail which is an additional 3 miles at easy grade. Pace will be chill at 1-2 mph\, terrain dependent. Max of 8 people. \nWeather thus far\, is partly sunny with high of 58. Prepare for variable temperature\, bugs\, some mud. Bring lunch\, snacks and water of course. \nParking area is relatively small but more space available midweek.  Carpooling is suggested. I leave from Scarborough and can take 3 people. Pick up areas can be determined by participants. On trail no later than 930. \n

SUMMARY:Outdoor film festival
DESCRIPTION:Join the Maine Outdoor Film Festival and the Scarborough Land Trust\, for an evening of outdoor adventure and conservation films shown under the stars in the field at Memorial Park.  Bring chair or blanket\, bug spray may be needed. Open at @1900 (7pm) and starts 1930 (730pm). Though free\,  a donation of $10-15 is suggested and this will go to the Scarborough Land Trust.

SUMMARY:South Branch Pond in Baxter State Park
DESCRIPTION:I have a tent site 22 at South Branch for 3 nights 8/7\, 8/8 and 8/9 and have room for 3 more people.  The campground provides trail access to local ponds in the Fowler region as well as day hikes on South Branch Mountain and North Traveler and the very challenging Traveler Loop Trail. The campground trailhead also provides access to Russell Pond Campground via the Pogy Notch Trail. Swimming\, fishing and canoeing (rental available) are also available.  Details regarding carpooling and sharing of any equipment such as that for cooking will be discussed prior.

SUMMARY:Baxter State Park
DESCRIPTION:Consider a foray into Baxter Park with bunkhouse accommodations at Chimney Pond. This will require a backpack of 3.3 miles each way in from Roaring Brook and out from Chimney Pond. There are multiple day hike options including all Katahdin peaks\, Russell and Davis Ponds\, Pamola caves\, NW Basin. Bunkhouse is reserved for September 19\, 20 and 21st. There are 7 spots open and $30 will hold space. \n\nThis is a trip for more experienced hikers with some backpacking/wilderness experience.  For details on equipment\, please refer to Backpacking checklist on REI.com. (Will not need tent due to enclosed bunkhouse.) Due to closeness of quarters\, prefer those with COVID vaccinations. This will be a hike your own hike trip but groups and support for others encouraged.  Though parking is included in this reservation\, carpooling\, meet up time to hike in will be discussed at least a week before the trip.
