SUMMARY:Outdoor film festival
DESCRIPTION:Join the Maine Outdoor Film Festival and the Scarborough Land Trust\, for an evening of outdoor adventure and conservation films shown under the stars in the field at Memorial Park.  Bring chair or blanket\, bug spray may be needed. Open at @1900 (7pm) and starts 1930 (730pm). Though free\,  a donation of $10-15 is suggested and this will go to the Scarborough Land Trust.

SUMMARY:South Branch Pond in Baxter State Park
DESCRIPTION:I have a tent site 22 at South Branch for 3 nights 8/7\, 8/8 and 8/9 and have room for 3 more people.  The campground provides trail access to local ponds in the Fowler region as well as day hikes on South Branch Mountain and North Traveler and the very challenging Traveler Loop Trail. The campground trailhead also provides access to Russell Pond Campground via the Pogy Notch Trail. Swimming\, fishing and canoeing (rental available) are also available.  Details regarding carpooling and sharing of any equipment such as that for cooking will be discussed prior.

SUMMARY:Baxter State Park
DESCRIPTION:Consider a foray into Baxter Park with bunkhouse accommodations at Chimney Pond. This will require a backpack of 3.3 miles each way in from Roaring Brook and out from Chimney Pond. There are multiple day hike options including all Katahdin peaks\, Russell and Davis Ponds\, Pamola caves\, NW Basin. Bunkhouse is reserved for September 19\, 20 and 21st. There are 7 spots open and $30 will hold space. \n\nThis is a trip for more experienced hikers with some backpacking/wilderness experience.  For details on equipment\, please refer to Backpacking checklist on REI.com. (Will not need tent due to enclosed bunkhouse.) Due to closeness of quarters\, prefer those with COVID vaccinations. This will be a hike your own hike trip but groups and support for others encouraged.  Though parking is included in this reservation\, carpooling\, meet up time to hike in will be discussed at least a week before the trip.
