SUMMARY:Night sky adventure stay for seniors at AMC Medawisla Lodge and Cabins
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a 3 nights getaway in the middle of Maine at AMC’s Medawisla Lodge and Cabins in the Maine Woods Initiative area geared to seniors but open to all. We have timed our stay to take advantage of dark skies to enjoy a sky full of stars without having to stay up late. Whether you enjoy easier trails in the woods\, climbing mountains\, off road biking or paddling\, you can find something to do here. However\, you can also just enjoy sitting on the porch at the lodge or down at the lake. Bring your own kayak or canoe or use one available there. \nWe are holding the Meadow Bunkhouse with 16 bunk beds\, a 2 bedroom cabin with 1 queen and 2 twins\, and a 2 bedroom cabin with private facilities with 1 queen\, 1 double and 1 twin (held for the group until 8/1/2025 – after that time it will be open for general reservations). Before you register\, please contact Michelle Moody to get price information in case there are any price changes. Price for the bunkhouse as of 6/21/2025 was $238.71 per person including tax based on extended stay for 3 nights with an AMC membership.  Prices are not guaranteed until booked. Non-member rates are higher. Cabin prices will vary based on how many share a cabin. All meals are included from dinner our first night to a packed lunch on the last day. SUMMARY:Greenville Fall Foliage Seniors Getaway
DESCRIPTION:We would like to invite fellow active MOAC seniors to join us for our Thursday Hikers Fall Getaway to Greenville. \nUpdate – It looks like the place is sold out at this time for rooms. There is camping available at the same location in a grassy area behind the resort. This can depend on weather. I can also keep a wait-list in case someone cancels from our group. Room rate of $120/night\, Sept. 24-27. The rooms have full kitchens and 2 double beds. Be sure to tell them you are with Thursday Hikers/Michell Moody group.  Be sure to check out their website for more info about the property. They also offer camping behind the resort. Call the resort at 800-726-2302 to book one of the rooms we are holding (the rooms are not on their website until after July 1). Book ASAP if you want to come. DESCRIPTION:UPDATE – My husband just tested positive for Covid so we are having to cancel. However\, others are going at this time. We were holding a 2 bedroom townhouse that may be available. \nJoin a group of Thursday Hikers (Topsham/Brunswick area group) for a 3 or 4 nights stay at Mt. Chase Lodge on Upper Shin Pond. Check it out here – https://mtchaselodge.com/ \nI’d be happy to try to help folks set this up for to share. 1 Queen and 2 twins and 1 queen and bunk bed with full and twin plus a futon couch. One cabin for 3 nights with 3 bedrooms. 2 MOAC members are staying next door at Shin Pond Village. \nWe are getting a discounted rate so be sure to talk to me before booking. A deposit is required and non-refundable but can be used within one year. \nYou can bring your own kayak or SUP or use one of the lodge’s. Hiking includes Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument\, Baxter State Park (north entrance) and Mt. Chase. Paddle at Scraggly Lake or Grand Lake Matagamon (Baxter State Park). Hike to Grand Pitch on the Sebois River. Drop down to Grindstone and hike or bike the Penobscot River Trails.
